Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro launched: Everything you need to know


Samsung is one of the biggest technology companies in today’s market and it has worked hard over the last years to achieve such a feat. The South Korean company has managed to make a name for itself in every aspect of the market across smartphones, laptops, smart accessories, etc. And about smart accessories, Samsung has launched the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro alongside the vanilla Galaxy Watch 5.


The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro comes with a bigger battery and more durable display glass when compared to its predecessors, the Galaxy Watch 4 series. Being the Pro model, the smartwatch is one of the most feature-packed smartwatches that Samsung has ever released. It is a big step up from its vanilla sibling.

Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro

As for the design, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is quite beautiful and it focuses on health, fitness, and lifestyle which is a nice balance for many users.

It comes in a 45mm body that weighs about 46.5 grams and is about 10.5 mm thin. The 45mm body size helps to house the display which is a 1.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 450 x 450 pixels resolution. As for the band, there is now a new D Buckle design with no holes and the ability to adjust the length seamlessly.


Speaking about the display, the front glass is made from an enhanced Sapphire Crystal and Samsung says it is about 2X tougher and 60% more resistant to scratches. It covers the watch’s Titanium case so it is extremely durable. It has 5ATM water resistance certification as well as IP68 certification. It is also compliant with the MIL-STD-810H standard.


Coming to the battery, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has a quite big 590 mAh battery and it is the biggest battery capacity of a Galaxy Watch yet. It has support for fast charging which Samsung says will give you 8 hours of battery life in just 8 minutes of charging and also 45% of battery in 30 minutes of charging.

The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is powered by the Exynos W920 chipset that was seen in it its predecessors. It still comes with the same 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.


On the software front, the smartwatch runs on One UI Watch 4.5 which is based on Android Wear OS 3.5. With this, installing apps like YouTube Music, SoundCloud, Google Maps, Spotify and Deezer can now be done seamlessly.

As for connectivity, the Watch 5 Pro comes with Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and dual-band Wi-Fi 5 a/b/g/n with there being an optional model with LTE support. As for navigation, the watch has GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou receivers on it.


The watch has a barometer, light sensors, accelerometer, a compass, a BioActive sensor, and a temperature sensor which all help with the exercise and healthy tracking features. Some of the top features are sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, and blood pressure tracking.


Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro Price and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro price starts at $450 or €470 for a Bluetooth model and the LTE model comes a bit higher at $500 or €520. It is available in Black Titanium and Gray Titanium.
The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is available for pre-order already and it will start shipping and being available from August 26.
