Honor Play5 Youth launched with Dimensity 900, 66W fast charging, and 120Hz screen


Honor has announced the Honor Play5 Youth in China, an addition to the Play series of Honor smartphones. The Honor Play5 Youth comes with some top specs and features like 66W fast charging, a Dimensity 900 SoC, and a 120Hz high refresh rate display. Honor Play5 Youth Price & Availability

The Honor Play5 Youth is priced at CNY 1,799 ($280), CNY 1,999 ($315) for the 8GB 128GB model and the 8GB 256GB model respectively. It comes in two colors which are Blue and Black. It is already up for pre-orders in China through Honor’s Chinese website, with sales commencing from November 1. There’s no information on global availability yet.


Honor Play5 Youth Specs

Upfront, the Play5 Youth sports a 6.67 inches IPS LCD display that has a FullHD+ resolution and covers the DCI-P3 wide color gamut. It has a 120Hz refresh rate which makes scrolling and animations more fluid. The screen has a pill-shaped hole like the Samsung Galaxy S10 series for housing the selfie camera.
On the side of the phone, there’s a fingerprint scanner mounted on the power button for biometric authentication.


As for the camera, there’s a dual rear camera setup that features a 64MP camera with f/1.9 aperture alongside a 2MP camera with f/2.4 aperture. It can record videos at up to 4K at 30 fps. On the front, there’s a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture that can record 1080p videos at 30 fps.


The Honor Play5 Youth is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G (6nm) SoC which has a maximum clock speed of 2.4 GHz coupled with the Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. It comes with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage with no micro SD card support. There’s support for virtual RAM expansion up to 2GB. The smartphone comes running Magic UI 4.2 based on Android 11.


The Play5 Youth is backed by a 4,300 mAh battery and has support for 66W fast charging via its USB-C port. Honor says this 66W charger can charge the phone from 0% to 50% in just 15 minutes.
As for connectivity, the Honor Play5 Youth comes with 5G networks support, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS.
