Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4
The top highlights of any Samsung Galaxy Fold have been these two things, the cover display, and the main foldable display. And now, we’ll take about them.
The Galaxy Fold4 main display is a 7.6 inches Dynamic AMOLED display that has a resolution of 1812 x 2176 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It has a 6 by 5 aspect ratio which is unconventional but normal for a display that folds into two. It also has a peak brightness of 1200 nits.
There is also a cover display that features a 6.2 inches Dynamic AMOLED display that has a resolution of 904 x 2316 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 23 by 9 aspect ratio. It is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+.
Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Fold4 is going to be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset coupled with the Adreno 730 GPU.
It will come with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of fast UFS 3.1 internal storage with no support for storage expansion. There will also be a 1TB storage option but that will be exclusive to some regions and only available via the official stores.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold4 now has a refined design as you get a more durable build and overall improvements. The phone is now more thin and lightweight when compared to its predecessor. It also has small bezels around the display.
It has a frame made from Armor Aluminum with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ being on the back panel and cover display. The phone is IPX8 certified for water resistance. Samsung has independently tested its durability as the hinge is certified to fold up to 200,000 times. The hinge also got a bit more refined to enhance the folding experience.
Coming to the cameras, there is a triple rear camera setup that features the same cameras as the Galaxy S22 and its Plus sibling. It has a 50MP main camera with EIS & OIS, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom & 30x space zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide camera.
There are two selfie cameras, one on the cover display and the other on the main display. The cover display’s selfie camera has a 10MP camera sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The main display has an under-display selfie camera that outputs 4MP images with an f/1.8 aperture.
On the inside, the Samsung Galaxy Fold4 is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery that is the same capacity as its predecessor. As for charging, it has support for 25W fast charging and Samsung says it’ll take the phone from 0% to 50% in only 30 minutes of charging. There’s also support for 15W fast wireless charging.
On the software front, the phone runs on Android 12L based on One UI 4.1.1. Samsung has worked with many apps like Facebook, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, Microsoft Teams, etc to optimize the foldable display.
There’s Flex Mode which activates when you fold the phone just like a laptop. There’s also Flex Mode TouchPad which turns the bottom half of the folded display into a trackpad. Multitasking is also better.
As for connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Fold4 comes with support for 5G networks. It comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 6e, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, USB 3.2 On-The-Go, and Ultra Wide Band support. There are also stereo speakers so the audio experience is great.
Just like its predecessor, the S-Pen is also available with the Galaxy Z Fold4 and it comes with more features and functionality to enhance productivity.
The phone is available in three colors: Phantom Black, Beige, and Graygreen.
