Vivo has launched the Vivo Y33 as one of the latest additions to the popular budget-friendly Y-series.
Vivo Y33 comes as a budget-friendly smartphone that packs the basic essentials that any average user will need to have a good experience. Being a budget-friendly smartphone, the Vivo Y33 misses out on lots of premium features as the company wants to keep the price down. Nonetheless, it still manages to have a lovely display, decent processor performance, and outstanding battery life.
If you want a phone that has a large display, a big battery, and a decent camera and don’t want to spend a lot of money, then the Vivo Y33 should be one of the top options you should consider. At its price point, it is one of the best smartphones on the market.

Design and Body
Despite being a budget-friendly smartphone, Vivo still made sure the Vivo Y33 has a lovely design and it looks sleek and gorgeous when you look at it. It has a nice mirror finish on the rear panel which makes it reflect light and show a gradient of colors
The phone comes in a plastic body that has a thickness of 8.4 mm and weighs about 191 grams. It has a quite sleek feel in the hands but is quite on the high side of the weight scale due to the massive battery it has.
On the rear, you’d only find the triple rear camera setup and Vivo’s branding. On the sides, you’d find the volume rockers and the power button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The sensor is quite snappy so you have a seamless experience when unlocking the phone.
As for color options, the phone is only available in Black and Light Blue.
Display
Coming to the display, the Vivo Y33 sports a 6.58 inches display that uses an IPS LCD panel and has a resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels with a PPI density of 401. The display has a 20 by 9 aspect ratio, you get a very small bezel on the side with a rather noticable one at the bottom.
The screen has a water drop notch at the top center which helps to house the selfie camera. Also, there’s no branded glass protection on the screen so you’ll need to get a tempered glass screen protector.
As for the display quality, there’s not much missing, you get vivid and clear content with lovely details and colors.
Processor and Memory
Under the hood, the Vivo Y33 is powered by the gaming-focused MediaTek Helio G80 chipset. The octa-core chipset is built on a 12nm fabrication process and it has 2 Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. The chipset is paired with the Mali G52 MC2 GPU which offers decent but not mind-blowing performances when gaming.
The gaming-focused processor is made for affordable smartphones so it doesn’t offer a game-changing experience but it will allow you to play games smoothly on medium to low graphics settings.
The processor works with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with a micro SD card slot for expanding the storage. The memory is quite disappointing as many apps and games need more to run simultaneously without issues.
Software
On the software front, the Vivo Y33 runs on Android 11 with Funtouch 11.1 skin on top straight out of the box. The Funtouch skin grants you more customization features but adds bloatware apps and ads.
Camera
Coming to the camera, the Vivo Y33 has a triple rear camera setup alongside a single front-facing camera.
The triple rear camera setup features a 48MP wide camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth camera.
The selfie camera features a 16MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.
As for video recording, the selfie and rear cameras can take 1080p videos at 30 fps.
In ideal conditions, both the rear and selfie cameras can produce nice photos but when in non-ideal situations like nighttime and bright sunlight, they can fall apart easily.
Battery and Charging
On the inside, the Vivo Y33 is backed by a massive 5,000 mAh non-removable battery. It can last you through the day and sometimes a day or two depending on how much you use the phone.
As for charging, there’s support for 18W fast charging which Vivo claims can take the phone to 70% in just 66 minutes of charging.
Network and Connectivity
There’s support for 4G LTE network on the Vivo Y33 and it supports the following LTE bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 28, 38, 40, 41, & 66.
It comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, GPS, and Wi-Fi hotspot. There’s a USB 2.0 Type-C port with OTG support for charging and data transfer. There’s also a 3.5 mm headphone jack so you don’t need a dongle.

The Vivo Y33 is a nice smartphone in the entry-level market and it comes with some nice features like a lovely display, solid battery life, and decent performance. It is a good phone but being a highly competitive entry-level market, you can easily find other phones around the same price with slightly better performance.
