Vivo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has launched the Vivo Y50 as an addition to the Y series which was recently announced by the company. The Vivo Y50 comes as a mid-range smartphone with a nice set of features. It is priced at $225 or ¥16,499, which makes the Vivo Y50 difficult to recommend. The Vivo Y50 sports a 6.53 inches IPS LCD that has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 403 pixels per inch density with an aspect ratio of 20 by 9. It is an Ultra O display as it has a tiny punch-hole at the top left corner housing the selfie camera.
Design and Body
The design of the Vivo Y50 is not bad, it comes in a nice plastic body that has a thickness of 9.1 mm and weighs 197 grams which is not that bulky. The rear panel houses the quad-camera setup, Vivo’s branding, and a fingerprint scanner for biometric security. It is available in the following array of colors: Starry Black, Iris Blue, Iris Blue, and Pearl White.
Processor and Memory
Powering the Vivo Y50 is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 (11nm) chipset that has a maximum clock speed of 2.0 coupled with the Adreno 610 GPU. It comes with a huge 8GB of RAM and an ample 128GB of internal storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot for expanding the storage.
The Vivo Y50 comes with a quad rear camera system that features a 13MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth camera. As for video recording, it can record 1080p videos at 30 fps.
