Vivo is a Chinese technology company owned by BBK Electronics and they are known for making smartphones, smart accessories, and other consumer electronics. Over the years, Vivo has grown big in the smartphone market with it focusing on good value smartphones for everyone at different price points. This has made them one of the top choices if anyone wants to buy smartphones at a relatively affordable price. Vivo has launched the Vivo Y21s as the latest addition to the budget-friendly Vivo Y-series.

The Vivo Y21s comes in as a more premium and more powerful version of the vanilla Vivo Y21 that was launched about one month ago. When compared to the vanilla model, this phone manages to come with a better camera and a more powerful processor among others.
The phone comes in as a lower mid-range smartphone that is focused on offering some good specs at a very affordable price point. The Vivo Y21s comes with a decent camera, a massive battery, a large display, a beautiful design, and a good enough processor. In its price point, the phone is easily one of the best value smartphones anyone can purchase.
In this article, I will be sharing with you everything you need to know about the newly released Vivo Y21s, its price, full specifications, and review. Hopefully, this is going to help you out if you need to make any purchase decisions. Without wasting much of our time, let us get right into today’s article.

Display
The display of this smartphone is quite good enough for a budget smartphone as it comes with the basics and will get the job done.

Upfront, the Vivo Y21s sports a 6.51 inches IPS LCD display that has an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels with a 270 pixels per inch density. The display has a 20 by 9 aspect ratio with an outdated water drop notch at the top center housing the selfie camera. There are quite noticable bezels around the display but this is not a surprise as this is a budget-friendly smartphone.
The display has a special Eye Protection Mode that helps to filter out blue light so you can have a comfortable viewing experience. The screen is quite vibrant and vivid so you’ll have problems when watching movies or playing games. Unfortunately, there is no screen protection so you will need to get a tempered glass screen protector.
Design and Body
Coming to the design, the Vivo Y21s is one of the best-looking smartphones in its price range as it comes with a simple yet exquisite profile.
in a slim and trendy profile.
The phone comes in a nice plastic body that has a slim and sleek feel in the hands. It has a thickness of 8 mm and weighs about 183 grams which makes it have a really slim profile. Surprisingly, the phone has flat sides all around to help give it a beautiful aesthetic, this seems to be inspected by the iPhone 12 series.
The rear panel houses the triple camera setup with an LED flash at the top left and Vivo’s branding at the bottom left. It has a gradient design so it has a dual-tone finish depending on how light hits the back.

Like I said earlier, the sides are flat and it has the volume rockers and power button on the right. The power button doubles as a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. It allows for a seamless unlocking experience.
Processor and Memory
Under the hood, the Vivo Y21s is powered by the gaming-centric MediaTek Helio G80 chipset. The octa-core chipset features two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. The chipset is built on a 12nm fabrication process which is not really the most efficient out there.
The chipset is paired with the Mali-G52 MC2 which offers you decent graphics performance when gaming. The phone also has HyperEngine Game Technology which offers dynamic management of CPU, GPU, and memory. This will help deliver sustained performance and longer gameplay.
The processor is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There is a dedicated micro SD card slot for expanding the storage when the need arises.
Software
On the software side, the Vivo Y21s runs on Android 11 with Funtouch OS 11.1. Funtouch brings more features and UI changes when compared to the pure Android version.
Camera
Coming to the camera, the Vivo Y21s has a decent setup on the rear and front.

The triple rear camera setup features a 50MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture & PDAF, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth camera with an LED flash. The macro camera helps out to take close-up shots with a focus as close as 4cm while the depth camera helps to add bokeh.
It can record videos in up to 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. There are some nice features like HDR, Super Night Mode, and Portrait mode.
The selfie camera has an 8MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. It can record videos in up to 1080p resolution at 30 fps, and can also take Portrait mode selfies.
Battery and Charging
On the inside, the Vivo Y21s is backed by a 5,000 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. The battery offers up to a day of use with mixed usage.

As for charging, there is support for 18W fast charging via its USB Type C port. There is also support for reverse charging so you turn the phone into a mobile power bank.
Network and Connectivity
There is support for 4G LTE network on the Vivo Y21s and it has support for the following LTE bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40, 41, and 66.
The phone comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (a/b/g/n/ac), Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0 (A2DP, LE), GPS, FM Radio, and NFC (region dependent).
