  • 16MP front-facing camera
  • 5,500 mAh battery
  • 100W fast charging

Display

On the display front, the OnePlus 12R holds its own against other competitors.

The phone has a 6.78-inch BOE X1 OLED display that has a resolution of 1264 x 2780 pixels. It uses a 10-bit LTPO4 panel which enables support for 1B colors, and an improved 120Hz variable refresh rate.

The display can reach up to 4,500 nits of brightness which is even more than the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung’s latest flagship. The display has support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and it is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Design

There is not much difference when it comes to the design of this phone as it is quite similar to the OnePlus 12. The alert slider is now at the left-hand side of the frame.

Processor and Memory

Now, let’s talk about one of the top highlights of the OnePlus; its processor. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
It was Qualcomm’s flagship chipset for last year, and it is more than adequate for a mid-range smartphone now.

The phone comes with 8GB or 16GB of RAM, and either 128GB or 256GB with no micro SD card slot. One thing to note is that the 128GB storage model uses UFS 3.1 storage while its counterpart uses the improved UFS 4.0.

OnePlus adds in a special heat dissipation system which helps to keep the chipset temperatures low during heavy tasks.

Camera

The camera department happens to be one of the few places where the OnePlus 12R did not try to punch above its weight. OnePlus does just enough for a mid-range smartphone and leaves it at that.

On the rear, you would see a triple camera setup. The main camera uses a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS. It is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera.

On the front, you have a 16MP selfie camera tucked in the tiny punch-hole cutout.

Battery and Charging

The OnePlus 12R comes with a 5,500 mAh battery which makes it one of the few mainstream Android phones that go above the 5,000 mark.

The next top highlight of the phone is its fast charging, OnePlus says that the 100W fast charge will take it from 1% to 100% in just 26 minutes of charging.
To counteract the damage such extreme fast charging can cause, the phone has a Battery Health Engine technology for preserving the battery over time.

Software & Others

The OnePlus 12R comes running on Android 14 straight out of the box. It also has an optical in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
As for connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and has an IR blaster. Sadly, it still uses a USB 2.0 port.

OnePlus 12R Price and Availability

The OnePlus 12R price starts at $499 for the base 8GB/128GB model, and it goes up to $599 for the highest-end 16GB/256GB model.

The OnePlus 12R will be available for pre-order starting from today, and open sales are expected to commence on February 13 for the US and Europe and February 4 for India.
