After lots of teasing, OnePlus has finally launched the OnePlus 12 at the company’s tenth-year anniversary event in China. The OnePlus 12 is packed with lots of exciting features as wireless charging finally returns. The phone comes in as the direct successor to the OnePlus 11, and it has the expected upgrades like the latest Snapdragon flagship processor, and improvements in the display, battery, and camera departments. In this article, I’ll share with you the OnePlus 12 specs, price, and features.
OnePlus 12 Features
First, let’s talk about the performance of the OnePlus 12, the phone is now powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It brings substantial improvements in graphics, CPU, and even AI performance. The phone comes with 12GB, 16GB, or 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of fast UFS 4.0 storage. There is no micro SD slot. To enhance performance, the phone has a 9,140mm² vapor chamber cooling system. This will help reduce throttling by cooling the chipset when performing intensive tasks.
As expected, the phone has a premium build with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front, an aluminum frame, and Gorilla Glass on the rear. The phone now comes with IP65 certification so it is water and dust-resistant.
Upfront, the OnePlus 12 greets you with a curved 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display that has a QHD+ resolution. The display has an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz, and it uses a 10-bit panel. The display has support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The panel is said to reach up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness (in HDR) which is a top feat. There’s 2,160 Hz PWM dimming and blue light filtering, all protecting the eyes.
Beneath the display, there is an optical fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
Now, let’s talk about the cameras. On the back, there is the camera setup with Hasselblad branding. The main camera is a 50MP Sony dual-layer stacked Lytia 808 sensor with OIS. Alongside it, are a 48MP ultra-wide camera with Sony IMX581 sensor, and a 64MP telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom. The telephoto camera can also achieve 6X lossless magnification using in-sensor zoom.
On the front, a 32MP selfie camera is tucked in the tiny punch-hole cutout at the top center. It can record at up to 4K30 while the rear camera reaches 8K24.
The OnePlus 12 brings the largest ever battery in a OnePlus to date. It has a 5,400 mAh battery, which is divided into two 2,700 mAh cells. As for charging, the phone supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It also supports 10W reverse wireless charging so you can use it to charge other smaller devices.
As for connectivity, the OnePlus 12 comes with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and an IR blaster. There is a USB 3.2 type C port for faster data transfer speeds. The phone comes with dual stereo speakers for an immersive experience.
On the software side, the OnePlus 12 comes running on Android 14, with ColorOS 14 (China version) or OxygenOS 14 (International version) on top.
As for color options, you can get the phone in white, black, and emerald green.
OnePlus 12 Price and Availability
The OnePlus 12 Price starts at $610, $680, $750, and $820 for the 12GB/256GB model, 16GB/512GB model, 16GB/1TB model, and 24GB/1TB model respectively. The phone is already available for pre-order in China with open sales starting on Dec. 11. As for the international market, the OnePlus 12 is expected to make its global launch on January 23, 2024.
