After teasing the new series for a long time, Xiaomi has finally launched the Xiaomi Redmi K70 series, it comprises the Redmi K70E, Redmi K70, and Redmi K70 Pro. The Redmi K70 comes in as the direct successor to the Redmi K60, and it brings a lot of significant upgrades. Some of the main upgrades are a better display, improved performance, improved camera, and faster charging.

Now, let’s start this with some of the new things that the phone offers.
Under the hood, the Redmi K70 is now powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the company’s flagship processor for last year. It is noticeably better than the 8+ Gen 1 of its predecessor.
The chipset is now paired with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB or 1TB of fast UFS 4.0 internal storage.
To keep performance at its best, Xiaomi equips the phone with a 5,000 sq mm cooling area, including a vapor chamber.
Upfront, you are greeted by a 6.67-inch OLED 12-bit display that has a 1440p resolution, a peak brightness of 4,000 nits, and HDR10+ support. The display also has a 120 Hz refresh rate. Being a 12-bit panel, this screen can show up to 68.7 billion colors, coupled with its peak brightness, Xiaomi says it is the highest in the industry. The screen has an under-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
Now, let’s talk about the cameras. On the rear, you will see a triple camera setup, the same as its predecessor. However, there is now a new 50MP sensor with f/1.6 aperture, OIS, and a size of 1/1.55”. The other two are an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP depth sensor.
On the front, there is a 16MP sensor, which looks like it’s the same as last year’s version. The rear camera can record at up to 8K at 24 fps while the selfie still maxes out at 1080p.
One of the improvements in the battery department is faster charging albeit at a lesser capacity than its predecessor. There is now a 5,000 mAh battery, which supports 120W fast charging and Xiaomi says it will take the phone to full charge in 18 minutes. To manage the high speed, the phone is equipped with a custom P2 charging chip, and there is a G1 battery management chip to improve battery life.
The Redmi K70 runs on Xiaomi’s new HyperOS based on Android 14. As for connectivity, the phone has NFC, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, an infrared port, and 5G.

The Xiaomi Redmi K70 price is set at $352 (CNY 2,499) for the 12/256GB model, $381 (CNY 2,699) for the 16/256GB model, $423 (CNY 2,999) for the 16/512GB model, and $479 (CNY 3,399) for the 16GB/1TB model. The phone will go on sale in China today.
There is no information on when the Redmi K70 will be available in the global market. It may be rebranded as another device if it makes it out of the home market.
