Over the past years, Motorola used to take a back seat in the smartphone market but in recent years, the company has decided to compete with other major smartphone companies. Today, Motorola held an event in China and it launched the Moto X30 Pro as well as the Moto S30 Pro and the Moto Razr 3 (2022).
The Moto X30 Pro comes in as an improved version of the Moto Edge X30 that was launched in the last quarter of last year. The Motorola Moto X30 Pro is the first phone to launch with a 200MP camera.

Motorola Moto X30 Pro
Upfront, the Moto X30 Pro comes with a 6.67-inch OLED display that has an FHD+ resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate and 20 by 9 aspect ratio. This is a 10-bit panel so it can display up to 1 billion colors.
Also, the display has support for HDR10+ and it has a full coverage of the DCI-P3 wide color gamut. It has a peak brightness of 1,250 nits and a typical brightness of 1000 nits. The screen has curved edges with a tiny punch-hole cutout at the top and small bezels.
Beneath the display, there’s an optical fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
Under the hood, the Motorola Moto X30 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset that is seen on other recent Android flagships. There is also a vapor chamber with several copper blocks to take heat away from the powerful chipset.
The phone comes with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. There’s no micro SD card slot.
The phone comes running on Android 12 with MyUI 4.0 skin on top.
On the rear, you’d find the triple camera setup that features a 200MP camera making the Moto X30 Pro the first ever phone on the market to have a 200MP camera.
The triple rear camera setup features a 200MP main camera that has Samsung’s ISOCELL HP1 sensor with f/1.95 aperture and OIS. It is positioned alongside a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP telephoto camera with a Sony IMX663 sensor and 2x optical zoom.
The 200MP main camera can record videos in up to 8K resolution at 30 fps. It outputs images at a default 12.5MP res with 16-to-1 pixels binning. It can also take images at 50MP res and a native 200MP res.
On the front, there’s a 60MP selfie camera with Omnivision’s OV60a sensor tucked in the tiny punch-hole cutout on the top of the screen.
The Motorola Moto X30 Pro comes with a 4,610 mAh non-removable battery. It has support for 125W fast wired charging and 50W fast wireless charging. Motorola says the 125W fast charger can take the phone from 0% to 100% in only 19 minutes of charging.
The Moto X30 Pro has support for 5G networks and it comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 6e, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and NFC. It also had dual stereo speakers so users will have a great experience with gaming and watching movies.
As for color options, the phone is available in White and Black.
Motorola Moto X30 Pro Price and Availability
As of launch, the Motorola Moto X30 Pro price starts at $550 (CNY 3,699) for the base 8GB RAM and 128GB unit, $625 (CNY 4,199) for the 12GB RAM 256GB storage unit, and $670 (CNY 4,499) for the top of the line 12GB RAM 512GB storage unit. It will go on sale immediately in China with no information on global availability as of now.
