Since Honor broke off from Huawei, they have launched a few smartphones including the Honor 50 series which brought back Google Mobile Services. Now, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has launched the Honor 60 and Honor 60 Pro which come as the successor to the Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro. These smartphones come with nice sets of specs with the Honor 60 Pro sporting the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+. In this article, we’ll go through everything you need to know about these newly launched phones.

Honor 60

This is the vanilla version and it comes with a 6.67 inches 10-bit OLED display that has a FHD resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The display has support for HDR10 and has 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut coverage. The display is slightly curved at the edges and it has a punch-hole at the top. Beneath the screen is an optical fingerprint sensor for biometric security.



Honor-60-Specs

Under the hood, the Honor 60 is powered by the standard Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G SoC coupled with the Adreno 642L GPU. It is paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage with no expansion support. As for software, the phone comes running on Magic UI 5.0 based on Android 12 straight out of the box.

On the rear, the Honor 60 has a triple camera setup that features a 108MP main camera alongside an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP depth camera. On the front, it has a 32MP selfie camera.

The Honor 60 is backed by a 4,800 mAh battery that has support for 66W fast charging via its USB-C port. This is a notable improvement over the battery in the Honor 50.

As for connectivity, it comes with Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. For navigation, it has A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS. There’s 5G connectivity on here with support for SA and NSA bands. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack.

As for price, the Honor 60 comes in at CNY 2,700 (≈$425 or €375) for the 8GB 128GB model, CNY 3,000 (≈$470 or €415) for the 8GB 256GB model, and CNY 3,300 (≈$517 or €457) for the 12GB 256GB model. The phone is already available for pre-order in China.

This is the Pro model and it comes with several key upgrades when compared to the vanilla Honor 60.

Under the hood, the Honor 60 Pro is now powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ 5G SoC coupled with the Adreno 642L GPU. This chipset comes with a higher clock speed at up to 2.5 GHz and up to 20% more GPU performance. The phone comes with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage with no expansion support. Just like its less expensive sibling, it runs on Magic UI 5.0 based on Android 12.

On the front, the Honor 60 Pro sports a 6.78 inches 10-bit OLED display that has a resolution of 1200 x 2652 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The display has support for HDR10+ and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 wide color gamut. The display here is more curved than the vanilla model with it having all four edges curved. It also has an optical in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric security.

As for the camera, this sports a triple rear setup that features a 108MP main camera alongside a 50MP ultrawide camera with AF so it can double as a macro camera at up to 2.5 cm. The third camera on here is a 2MP depth camera which is more of a gimmick. On the front, the Honor 60 Pro has a 50MP selfie camera with a 100-degree field of view.

The Honor 60 Pro also has a 4,800 mAh battery that has support for 66W fast charging via its USB-C port. This allows the phone to charge from 0% to 50% in just 15 minutes.

As for connectivity, it comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. For navigation, it has A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS. Just like its sibling, it has support for 5G networks and there’s no 3.5 mm headphone jack.

As for price, the Honor 60 Pro comes in at CNY 3,700 (≈$580 or €515) for the 8GB 256GB model and CNY 4,000 (≈$627 or €554) for the 12GB 256GB model. It is available for pre-order now in China.

Honor 60 Series Global Availability

As of now, there’s no information on when the Honor 60 series will be available globally but expect to be in Europe in early 2022.
