During Xiaomi’s latest event, the Chinese technology company unveiled the Xiaomi Book Air 13 alongside the Redmi Note 12 series.
The Xiaomi Book Air 13 comes with lots of interesting specifications and features that we’ll go into in this article. Without wasting much of our time, let’s get started.
Xiaomi Book Air 13
As specified in its name, the Xiaomi Book Air 13 is a 13.3-inch laptop. Keeping things short it comes with an OLED screen and the latest 12th-generation CPUs from Intel.
The display of the Xiaomi Book Air 13 is one of its key selling points as it is not a common theme to use an OLED panel in laptops. It features an E4 OLED panel that has a 2.8K resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels with a 225 pixels per inch density. The display has support for HDR 500, Dolby Vision, and DC dimming against PWM. For those concerned with color representation, the panel has 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage and a Delta E value of about 0.3.
It is a touchscreen with a 16 by 10 aspect ratio and small bezels at the top and sides. The screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 sheet.
The Book Air 3 has four speakers in it giving a very immersive sound, two are a pair of Dolby Atmos stereo speakers and two are tweeter speakers.
As for build quality, the laptop is thin and light with a very minimalistic design. The body is a Series 6 aluminum alloy with there being light gold embellishments around the sides. The laptop comes in at 1.2KG of weight and 12 mm of thickness. It is also only available in white, which I’d say is perfect. Also, the hinges allow for 360° movement.
Getting the inside, the Book Air 13 is available in two variants, with only the CPUs being what is different. There is a model with the Intel Core i7-1250U CPU and another with the Intel Core i5-1230U. They both have 2 performance cores and 8 energy efficiency cores with 12 threads. It is also coupled with the Iris Xe graphics card,
There is an oversized VC heat sink to help keep the CPU cool at all times.
The laptop comes with 16GB of LPDDR5 5200MHz memory along with 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD, and there are no other configurations.
As for software, you get the latest Windows 11 out of the box.
As for typing, the Xiaomi Book Air 13 has a full-sized keyboard with four levels of backlight. It also has a glass trackpad which is a fantastic thing to see at this level.
For video calls, you get an 8MP ultra-clear front-facing camera with two microphones so you can also get good audio.
To keep up with all this, the Xiaomi Book Air 13 had a 58.3 Wh battery that Xiaomi says can give up to 12 hours of usage. It has USB-C ports for charging, and a supported 65W PD fast charger can take the battery to 50% in only 48 minutes of charging.
As for connectivity, the laptop comes with Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2, and has a 2×2 MIMO dual antenna. It has two Thunderbolt 4 ports and also a 3.5 mm headphone jack. On the side, you’d see the power button that also doubles as a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
