Sadly, Xiaomi seems to have followed Samsung’s steps by removing the invaluable micro SD card slot so you can expand the storage.

Display

In comparison to the previous model, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ still shares the same display size but it now has better hardware and lower brightness.

Upfront, there is a 6.67 inches OLED display that has a FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It utilizes a 10-bit panel which makes the display able to show 1B colors. Also, there is support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ with a peak brightness of 900 nits.

Beneath the display, there is an optical fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. There is no official information stating what kind of protection the screen has.

Design and Body

Design-wise, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is similar to its non-Plus sibling as they both come in similar bodies. However, when compared to its predecessor, the phone looks way better as the design has been refreshed and is now cleaner.

Processor and Memory

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus draws its power from the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, an upgraded version of the Dimensity 920 on Note 11 Pro+ 5G.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset is built on a 6nm node, and it has two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. It is paired with the Mali G68 MC4 GPU for gaming and other graphics-intensive tasks.

The phone comes with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and only 256GB of fast UFS 2.2 internal storage. There is no micro SD card slot.

Camera

The camera department seems to be one of the places where the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ sees a massive upgrade over its predecessor.

Samsung-ISOCELL-HPX-200MP-Sensor

The first Redmi smartphone to have a 200MP camera as the main camera is a 200MP camera with Samsung’s ISOCELL HPX 1/1.4-inch sensor. It uses 16-to-1 binning as photos are in 12.5MP res in default with 50MP and 200MP full res being available. It also features QPD autofocus. The large sensor is capable of more things than is available on the phone due to its chipset.
Alongside the main 200MP camera, there is an 8MP ultrawide camera 119° field of view and a 2MP depth sensor.

On the front, there is a 16MP sensor for all your selfie and video chat needs.

The rear camera can record videos in up to 4K resolution at 30 fps while the selfie camera is capped at 1080p resolution at 30 or 60 fps.

Battery and Charging

The only new thing in this department is the increment in the phone’s battery capacity.

On the inside, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is backed by a 5,000 mAh non-removable battery and supports 120W fast charging via its USB-C port. Xiaomi says this should take the phone from 0% to 100% in only 19 minutes of charging.
