Lenovo released the Lenovo K5 Play in April 2018 as a budget smartphone for average people who want a smartphone without spending much money. Despite being released about 2 years back, if you still want to buy it, I’ll be a doing a review of the Lenovo K5 Play in 2020 telling you if it is worth buying.

Design and Body
As for design, the Lenovo K5 Play has a quite good design, it has nice round edges that makes handling very much easy. The phone is available in different colours like Black, Blue and Grey, the phone has a gradient design which makes it attractive. The phone comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio with slim bezels at the top and bottom.
As you know, this is a budget smartphone so don’t expect a mid-range kind of display. The Lenovo K5 Play has 5.7 inches HD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720×1440 pixels and a 282 PPI density. The display is fairly good for watching movies and playing games.
Processor and Memory
The Lenovo K5 Play is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor which has a maximum clock speed of 1.4 GHz coupled with Adreno 505 in charge of graphics. The processor is built on a 28nm fab process which means it’s not power efficient, this might be a deal-breaker for some.
The phone comes with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB built-in storage with a shared micro SD card slot.
Coming to the camera department, the Lenovo K5 Play has a dual rear camera setup which features a 13MP main camera with a 2MP depth camera for bokeh effects. The rear camera can record 1080p videos at 30 fps.
At the front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture for taking selfies and video calling.
Network and Connectivity
Lenovo K5 Play has support for 4G LTE network which gives you access to fast internet speeds when downloading and browsing, it has support for the following 4G bands: 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41.
The phone comes with Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, GPS, FM radio, WiFi Direct and WiFi hotspot.
Battery and Charging
Coming to the battery department, the Lenovo K5 Play has a 3,000 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery. The battery is not that huge but if you’re an average user it’s expected to last you well. The phone has no support for fast charging so you’ll spend time charging.
The Lenovo K5 Play runs on Android 8 Oreo with ZUI 3.7 skin on top. The phone has not gotten any major software update since when it was launched. The phone will be running on an outdated Android version, this might be another deal-breaker.
Lenovo K5 Play Review in 2020
Lenovo K5 Play was a good budget smartphone when it was launched in 2018 but now in 2020, the phone is not really worth buying. The phone processor is outdated, it runs on an old Android version just to mention a few. There are better options to go for in 2020.
