Apple, the American multinational technology company released the Apple iPhone XS in 2018 alongside the Apple iPhone XS Max and Apple iPhone XR. Design and Body


Taking a glance at this phone, you’d know that there is not so much difference between it and it’s predecessor. The iPhone XS has a glass/aluminium build with Corning Gorilla Glass on the back and front with a stainless steel frame. It has a premium feel in the hands. This phone weighs 177 grams and has a thickness of 7.7 mm, it is not bulky. The phone still retains the same size as its predecessor and it is one of the best compact flagships. This phone is IP68 water and dust resistant and it can survive in 2m deep water for up to 30 minutes.


Coming to the display, the iPhone XS has a 5.8 inches Super Retina OLED display with a resolution of 1125×2436 pixels and 458 PPI density. The screen has minimal bezels just like its predecessor with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen uses a scratch-resistant glass with oleophobic coating to prevent fingerprint smudges. The display features HDR10, Dolby Vision, Wide colour gamut, Truetone, 3D touch and 120 Hz touch-sensing rate.

Processor and Memory

The Apple iPhone XS is powered by the Hexacore Apple A12 Bionic chipset. The A12 Bionic chipset is one of the most powerful chipsets in a smartphone. The chipset is built on a 7 nm fabrication process which is power efficient and reduces overheating. The A12 Bionic chipset performance is smooth and loading apps is snappy with no delay same as playing games thanks to the Apple 4-core GPU.
The phone has 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 256GB or 512GB built-in storage. There is no micro SD card slot for expanding storage if you run out of space.


Coming to the camera, the iPhone XS has a dual rear camera setup which features a 12MP wide camera and a 12MP telephoto camera. The dual cameras have Optical Image Stabilization built into them. The telephoto camera gives you 2X optical zoom. The dual cameras can record 4K videos at 24/30/60 fps and 1080p videos up to 240 fps.
At the front, there is a 7 megapixels selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. The selfie camera can record 1080p videos at 30 or 60 fps. There is a SL 3D depth/biometric sensor for Face ID.

iPhones are known for not having great battery life but the iPhone XS got an improvement over its predecessor. The iPhone XS has a 2,658 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery. The battery promises up to 60 hours talk time and 14 hours talk time. The phone has support for fast charging of up to 15W and it also supports Qi wireless charging support. Apple also say this phone will last 30 minutes longer than the iPhone X.

Network and Connectivity

Apple iPhone XS has support for 4G LTE network which gives you access to fast internet speeds of up to 1024 Mbps when downloading and browsing. It supports the following 4G bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 32, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 46, 66. It comes with Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band WiFi 5, WiFi hotspot, GPS and NFC.


The Apple iPhone XS runs on iOS 12 out of the box. It is now upgradeable to iOS 14, the latest iOS version.
