Design and Body

The iPhone XS Max still has the same design as the iPhone X of last year. There’s no obvious change in the design of iPhone XS Max and it’s predecessor except that you’d notice a smaller notch and truly bezel less display. The phone is still as slim as the iPhone X but actually weighs more. The phone is wrapped in glass on the front and back, with a stainless steel frame. Apple claims the phone’s body glass is the most durable on any smartphone.
The phone measures a body dimension of 157.5 x 77.4 x 7.7 mm and weighs 208 g.
iPhone XS Max is IP68 water and dust resistant and can stay in 2 metres deep water for 30 minutes.


iPhone XS Max sports a 6·5 inches Super Retina OLED capacitive touchscreen with 1242×2688 pixels resolution, 84·4% screen to body ratio, 19·5:9 aspect ratio and a 458 pixels per inch density. Colours appear vibrant with deep blacks and impressive contrasts which makes viewing a beautiful experience.
There’s HDR10, as well as Dolby Vision, wide colour gamut, 3D touch, true-tone display and 120Hz touch sensing. It comes with 625 nits max brightness.
This display uses a scratch resistant glass and has oleophobic coating.

Processor and Memory

iPhone XS Max is powered by an hexa-core Apple A12 bionic chipset. The chipset is said to be able to carry out 5 trillion operations per second. The chipset is coupled with Apple 4 cores GPU which will ensure superb gaming experience. The processor is built on a 7nm fabrication process.
The iPhone XS Max comes with 4GB RAM with 64GB or 256GB or 512GB built-in storage. There’s no card slot for expanding storage as usual.


Apple iPhone XS Max has a dual rear camera setup, the first is a 12MP wide angle sensor with f/1.8 aperture while the second is a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. The both cameras have Optical Image Stabilization, Phase Detection Auto Focus and 2X optical zoom. The rear camera can record 4K 2160p videos at 24/30/60 fps, 1080p videos up to 240 fps and 720p videos up to 960 fps.
On the front, we have a 7MP standard sensor with a SL 3D depth/biometric sensor. The front camera can record 1080p videos at 30/60 fps. The front biometric sensor is responsible for Face ID.

Network and Connectivity

iPhone XS Max had 4G till 2G network support in it for downloading, surfing the web, calling and texting. It supports the following LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 32, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 46, 66. It has download speed up to 1Gbps and upload speed up to 150 Mbps.
It comes with Bluetooth (v5.0, A2DP, LE), dual band WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, GPS and NFC. It had a 2.0 proprietary reversible connector in between the two loudspeakers below the chin.

iPhone 10S Max has a non removable Li-Ion 3174 mAh battery.
Apple claims the iPhone XS Max will be able to last 1 hour 30 mins more than the iPhone X which ships with 2, 700mAh and a smaller display.
It has support for 15W fast charging despite the cable supporting it was not included in the box, Qi wireless charging and USB Power Delivery 2·0. The 15W fast charge is capable of taking the phone to 50% in just 30 minutes.


iPhone XS Max runs on iOS 12 and is upgradeable to iOS 13·4 which has Dark Mode.


iPhone XS Max price in Nigeria starts at 218,000 Naira for the 64GB model, 242,000 Naira for the 256GB model and 257,000 Naira for the 512GB model. After the launch of iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, the iPhone XS Max price in Nigeria was cut. This price is the latest price as at May 26, 2019.
