Since Honor became independent of Huawei, the Chinese company has been reaching new heights in the smartphone market, especially in its hometown. Following the launch of the Honor X50i+ and Honor 100 series, the Honor X50 GT has been announced as the latest offering from the tech company.
The Honor X50 GT comes in as the successor to the Honor X40 GT which was launched sometime last year. And as expected, it comes with noticeable upgrades in key departments. In this article, we’ll discuss the Honor X50 GT specs and price.
Honor X50 GT Features
The Honor X50 GT is a mid-range smartphone, with some of its features making it seem like it could have been a flagship.
First, the elephant in the room is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset in the phone. Though, it may be nearing two years since its launch, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 still performs great for a mid-range smartphone.
Honor pairs the heavy-duty processor with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage with no micro SD slot. To keep the performance level high, the Honor X50 GT is fitted with a 5,100mm² vapor chamber for cooling the chipset.
Now, let’s talk about the display. You’re greeted with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1220p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The display uses a 10-bit panel so it can show up to 1 billion colors. The screen has curved edges and it has a tiny punch hole cutout at the top center. Beneath the display, there is a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
The phone’s design is not too dissimilar to its predecessor but that is not a problem, as it will probably be in a case. And remember, the phone is IP53 certified for water and dust resistance.
The Honor X50 GT is backed by a 5,800 mAh battery that has support for 35W fast charging via its USB-C port.
Now, you must be thinking, what’s the catch? Well, you’re not mistaken, there’s one, and it can be a pretty big one for some. Despite the huge circular camera island, there is only a dual camera setup. The main is a 108MP sensor, and it is the only usable one as the other camera is a 2MP depth sensor. This theme is also on the front as you have an 8MP selfie camera.
On the software side, the Honor X50 GT comes running on Android 13 with MagicOS 7.2 skin on top. The phone is available in two colors: Midnight Black and Star Wing God of War (White).
Honor X50 GT Price and Availability
The Honor X50 GT price starts at $310 for the base 12/256GB model, $340 for the 16/256GB model, $365 for the 16/512GB model, and $410 for the top-end 16GB/1TB model.
The phone will go on sale from January 9 with pre-sale starting today in China. There is no information yet on international availability.
