Huawei, the Chinese multinational technology giant has launched the updated version of the MateBook X which is called the MateBook X 2021. The new MateBook X looks a lot like the MateBook X Pro 2021 that was launched earlier this year. The MateBook X 2021 comes with a new Tiger Lake processor, LPDDR4X RAM, and is available in three colors. The MateBook X 2021 price as at launch in China is CNY 8,999, close to US$1,400 at current exchange rates. This is extremely pricey when compared to what other competitors in the market provide.

Under the hood, the MateBook X 2021 is powered by a quad-core Intel 11th gen Tiger Lake processor, the Core i5-1130G7 with Intel Iris Xe graphics. This is a TDP-limited version of the Core i5-1135G7 that’s on the MateBook X Pro 2021. It has a base speed of 1.8 GHz and all the cores can clock at up to 3.4 GHz. The new 2021 version of the MateBook X comes with 16 GB of LPDDR4X RAM running at 3,733 MHz and a 512 GB PCIe SSD.
As for the display, it has a 13-inch IPS panel that has a resolution of 3,000 x 2,000 pixels and 278 PPI density in a 3:2 aspect ratio. The screen can reach up to 400 nits at full brightness and it covers 100% of the sRGB color space with a 1500:1 contrast ratio. The display has a 178 degree wide viewing angle with a 90% screen-to-body ratio and it is also a touch screen with up to 10 point touch.
As for connections, there’s support for dual-band Wi-Fi 6, 2 x 2 MIMO, and Bluetooth 5.1. It also has two USB-C ports and a 3.5 mm headphone and microphone combo jack.
The battery on the MateBook X 2021 is a 48Wh one which should last you some time.
