Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is the first smartphone from Samsung Electronics to have a three rear camera, even their flagship Galaxy S series and the Galaxy Note series don’t have a triple rear camera. It seems the South Korean tech giants is giving us a peak into their next flagship smartphone. It was launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy J6 Plus and Galaxy J4 Plus. Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is an upper mid-range smartphone with a lot of enticing specs which I’ll be discussing in this post.

Design and Body
The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is quite an attractive smartphone due to the kind of material used in its build. It has a polycarbonate rare covered by glass which makes it look appealing. However, the material used under the glass makes it quite light with a weight of just 168g. It is also very sleek with a slim frame measuring only 7.5mm and an overall simple look. The phone comes with NFC which supports Samsung Pay.
The smartphone has an infinity display which is a great upgrade from it’s predecessor. Samsung Galaxy A7 comes with a 6.0 inch Super AMOLED display with a FHD+ resolution and 411 pixels per inch density. It has an 18·5:9 aspect ratio which allows for more screen space in a relatively small body. The resolution will surely let you enjoy watching movies and playing games. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is scratch resistant and is resistant to light damage. It has the always on display feature which shows Time, Date and other notifications.
Processor and Memory
Under the hood lies Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 7885 SoC powering the Samsung Galaxy A7 and running day to day tasks. The Exynos 7885 features 2 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and 6 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. The chipset is coupled with Mali G71 MP2 GPU for graphics related activities.
Talking about the memory, the Samsung Galaxy A7 will come in three variants, one with 4GB RAM and 64GB built-in storage, another with 4GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage and a premium variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage. With the dedicated micro SD card slot provided, you can add an additional 512GB space using a micro SD card.
Samsung Galaxy A7 is the first smartphone from Samsung to have a triple rear camera. It has a 24MP low light sensor which is also the main camera, a 8MP ultrawide camera and a 5MP depth camera which helps in taking portrait shots. The triple rear camera can record 1080p videos from 30 fps till 240 fps and 720p videos at 960 fps.
At the front, we have a 24MP front camera which takes great selfies.
Network and Connectivity
Samsung Galaxy A7 comes with 4G LTE network in it which gives you access to fast blazing internet speeds when downloading and browsing. It supports the following LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 38, 40, 41 and comes with Bluetooth 5.0, dual band WiFi 5, WiFi Direct, GPS, FM Radio, WiFi hotspot and NFC.
Battery and Charging
Samsung Galaxy A7 comes with a 3,300 mAh non removable Li-Po battery. As far as usage is not too intensive, the smartphone is expected to last you for a full day on just one charge. For charging, it has a Micro USB port which is disappointing rather than the USB type C port. It has support for fast charging so it’d take less time when charging.
Samsung Galaxy A7 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung Experience UI skin on top. It is upgradeable to Android 10 with One UI 2.0 skin using OTA updates.
