iQOO has launched the new iQOO 12 series which comprises the iQOO 12 and the more premium iQOO 12 Pro. The iQOO 12 comes in as the direct successor to the iQOO 11 and it comes with lots of improvements in certain key areas. Here, I’ll be discussing the iQOO 12 features, specs, and price as well as everything else you need to know about the phone.

iQOO 12 Features

As for the features, the iQOO 12 is very similar to the Pro model so you’re not going to miss out on much if you choose the cheaper model.

The first major change is in the processor aspect as the phone now has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The chipset brings substantial improvements when it comes to performance as it is more efficient and has better graphics and CPU power.
The iQOO 12 comes with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of fast UFS 4.0 storage.

Coming to the display, this is one aspect where the iQOO 12 is quite different from its Pro sibling as its resolution is slightly lower. There is a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with an FHD+ resolution (1260 x 2800 pixels). It has a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz which is great for gaming, scrolling, and overall usage. Beneath the display, there is an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.

Another difference comes in the battery department, there is either a 5,000mAh battery or a 4,880mAh battery. As of now, there is no clear info on what causes the difference in capacity.
As for charging, the phone still comes with support for 120W wired charging just like its Pro sibling, but it misses out on wireless charging.

Now, let’s talk about the camera as its new features make it a huge talking point. It has a triple camera setup, and I’ll discuss each of the cameras severally. First, the main camera uses a 50MP sensor that comes with OIS and is effectively 23mm. The next camera is a 64MP telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom and support for 10x HD zoom and 100X digital zoom. Finally, there is a 50MP ultra-wide camera (effectively 15mm) with Auto Focus so it can moonlight as a macro camera in situations that require it.
I wish the selfie camera was as interesting as the main camera but it’s not. At the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera and it maxes out at 1080p resolution when recording videos.

iQOO 12 Price

The iQOO 12 price starts at $550 (CNY 3,999) for the 12GB 256GB model, $589 (CNY 4,299) for the 16GB 512GB model, and $645 (CNY 4,699) for the 16GB 1TB model. The phone is now available for pre-order in China and we’re hoping it will make its debut on the global market very soon.
