The company has launched the ZTE nubia Z30 Pro as their latest addition to the nubia Z series. The Nubia Z30 Pro comes in as the successor to the previous Nubia Z20 which was known for its revolutionary dual display.
The nubia Z series is the top flagship from ZTE and the ZTE nubia Z30 Pro is packed with all of the high-end premium features that are expected of any top flagship smartphone. It comes with three 64MP rear cameras, Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, and super-fast 120W charging amongst other top features.

Design and Body
After the Nubia Z20 dual-display design, ZTE has decided to ditch this approach and go with the conventional smartphone design. The ZTE nubia Z30 Pro doesn’t feature the dual display and it comes in a glass sandwich with an aluminum frame holding them together.
The phone is well designed but it is not entirely unique as it looks like it was just a slightly tweaked version of the popular Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The Z30 Pro comes with the same curved sides with the top and bottom being flat to give it a boxier design.
Looking at the rear, you’d notice the quad-camera system in a renowned square with a darker shade of the smartphone color. Apart from the camera bump, this square is also where nubia’s branding is imprinted. The sides are curved to make it feel more comfortable in the hands when you’re using the phone.
On the top and bottom sides, you would find the stereo speakers, the charging port, and microphones.
Display
The display is one of the places where you see how far ZTE goes to make sure the phone packs one of the top high-end premium features available.
The ZTE nubia Z30 Pro sports a 6.67 inches AMOLED display that has an FHD+ resolution with 395 pixels per inch density. The display has a blazing fast 144Hz refresh rate with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The panel can also display 10-bit colors and it covers the DCI P3 color space.
The display has support for HDR10+ so you can watch high dynamic range content on the phone. Overall, you have an excellent display that is color accurate, vivid, fast, and smooth.
Beneath the display, you’d find the optical fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. It is quite fast but isn’t the best in-display fingerprint sensor you can get on the market.
Processor and Memory
Under the hood, the ZTE nubia Z30 Pro is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. It has 1 Cortex-X1 core clocked at 2.84 GHz, 3 Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.42 GHz, and 4 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.80 GHz. It is built on a 5nm fabrication process which is power efficient.
The chipset is coupled with the Adreno 660 GPU. Together the processor will handle any kind of heavy task you throw at it like gaming, editing, video editing, multitasking, etc.
The processor is paired with 8GB or 12GB or 16GB of RAM coupled with 256GB or 512GB of fast UFS 3.1 internal storage. There’s no support for micro SD cards.
Software
On the software side, the ZTE nubia Z30 Pro runs on nubia UI 9 based on the new Android 11 OS.
Camera
Coming to the camera, the ZTE nubia Z30 Pro is packed with some of the best hardware on any smartphone in today’s market. You have a quad rear camera setup with three 64MP cameras and a single front-facing camera.
The quad rear camera setup features a 64MP main camera with a Sony IMX686 sensor and OIS, a 64MP camera with a longer 35mm lens, an 8MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and OIS, and a 64MP ultrawide camera with 120-degree field of view.
The rear camera can record videos in 8K resolution at 30 fps, 4K resolution at 30 or 60 fps, and 1080p resolution at up to 120 fps. You can also record in HDR10 and 10-bit color depth.
On the front, there’s a 16MP camera sensor for all your selfie and video chat needs. It can record videos in 4K resolution at 30 fps and 1080p resolution at 30 fps.
The camera hardware is one of the top options on the market but it is let down by mediocre software optimization. This makes it have poor output in many situations where it could have been better.
Battery and Charging
Coming to the battery, the ZTE nubia Z30 Pro is backed by a massive 4,200 mAh non-removable battery. The battery should be able to last any average user up to a full day even with intense usage.
As for charging, there’s support for super-fast 120W of charging via the USB Type C 3.1 port. This is so fast that nubia says that it can take the phone from 0% to 100% in only 15 minutes of charging which is crazy.
Network and Connectivity
There is support for both 4G LTE and 5G on the ZTE nubia Z30 Pro, it supports both SA & NSA 5G bands and also global LTE bands.
As for connectivity, the phone comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and NFC.
ZTE nubia Z30 Pro Price and Availability
The ZTE nubia Z30 Pro price starts at $779/CNY 4,999 for the 8GB 256GB model, $840/CNY 5,399 for the 12GB 256GB model while the high-end trim 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model is priced at $935/CNY 5,999. It is already available in China but there’s no info on global availability.
