Founded in 2009, Vivo is a Chinese technology company based in Dongguan, Guangdong, China. The company is owned by BBK Electronics which also owns other big tech companies and it is known for manufacturing smartphones, smart accessories, and other consumer electronics. In the global market, Vivo has slowly grown into a force to reckon with as their smartphones now compete with other big manufacturers. Vivo has launched the Vivo S10 Pro alongside the Vivo S10 as the latest addition to the Vivo S-series.

The Vivo S10 Pro comes in a nice mid-range smartphone that is packed with impressive specs and features that we will go into fully later in this article. The phone has a gorgeous design and build with a powerful processor, 5G network support, a lovely display, and an amazing camera amongst others.

When compared to the vanilla Vivo S10, the Pro version only comes with a better main camera which is odd but not surprising as the price difference between the pair is not big. However, the phone offers faster charging and a better camera system when compared to its predecessor, the Vivo S9.

Design and Body

The design of the Vivo S10 Pro is one of its top features as Vivo did not make compromises there to reach an affordable price. The phone looks gorgeous and it has a premium build quality.

The phone comes in a glass sandwich body with a glass rear, a glass front, and an aluminum frame holding them together. The phone features a slim, flat, and light weighted profile with it coming in at just 7.3 mm thick and 173 grams of weight.

The rear panel is photochromic and it reacts to changes in light offering the phone quite a unique appearance amongst other mid-range smartphones. The camera system and Vivo’s branding are also on the rear with the latter being at the bottom left and the former being at the top left.

The sides of the phone are quite flat which is probably a copy of the iPhone 12 as it is the latest popular smartphone to go with flat sides. The power button and volume rockers are on the right side.
The phone is available in four different colors: Black, White, Gradient Blue, and Yellow.

Display

Upfront, the Vivo S10 Pro comes with a 6.44 inches AMOLED display that has an FHD resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and 409 pixels per inch density. The display has a 90Hz refresh rate so scrolling and gaming become a bit smoother. Being an AMOLED panel, the display has a high contrast of 3000000:1 so it can show deep blacks when viewing content.

The display also has support for HDR10+ so the phone can view high dynamic range content from streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. It is also TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort certified so harmful blue lights are in low amounts.

The screen has a medium-sized U-notch at the top center which houses the dual selfie camera and also gives room for a dual-LED flash.

Processor and Memory

Under the hood, the Vivo S10 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 chipset with a 5G modem. The octa-core chipset has four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. It is paired with the Mali G77 MC9 GPU which offers a great graphics performance. The chip is also built on a 6nm fabrication process which is quite efficient when consuming power.

The processor is coupled with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of fast UFS 3.1 internal storage. There is no micro SD card slot so you can’t expand the storage.

Software

On the software side, the Vivo S10 Pro comes running on OriginOS 1.0 based on Android 11 straight out of the box.

Camera

Coming to the camera, there is a triple rear setup with a dual selfie camera so you have a really versatile camera system.

The triple rear camera system features a main camera with a 108MP ISOCELL HM2 sensor and f/1.9 aperture, an 8MP ultrawide camera with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture.
It can record videos in 4K and 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second.

On the front, you’d find the dual camera setup in a notch with dual-LED flashes at the top bezel to help out in dark situations. The dual selfie camera setup features a 44MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. It can also record videos in up to 4K resolution.

Battery and Charging

On the inside, the Vivo S10 Pro is backed by a 4,050 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery.

As for charging, there is support for 44W fast charging. It charges the phone from 0% to 100% in less than one hour which is really impressive.

Network and Connectivity

There is support for 5G and 4G LTE networks on the Vivo S10 Pro so you can reach high network speeds when downloading, gaming, or streaming.

As for connectivity, the phone comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 5.2 (A2DP, LE, aptX HD), GPS (A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS), and NFC. It has a USB-C port with On-The-Go support.

As of launch, the Vivo S10 Pro price starts at $610 (CNY 3,999) for the base model and it goes up a bit to get the high-end model.
