Vivo is a popular Chinese technology company and in the smartphone market, they’ve been one of the top 5 manufacturers for the last few years. Founded in 2019, iQOO is a sub-brand of Vivo and it has been focused on producing high-quality smartphones at relatively affordable prices. The Vivo iQOO 8 Pro has been launched alongside the Vivo iQOO 8, its less premium and more affordable sibling.
The Vivo iQOO 8 Pro and iQOO 8 come in as the successor to the iQOO 7 from the previous year, although the iQOO 8 is the direct successor as there was no Pro version last year.
The iQOO 8 Pro is the flagship smartphone from the company and it comes packed with all the high-end premium features that you can think of. It is even featuring some of the craziest specs possibly like a ridiculously fast 120W fast wired charging, 50W fast wireless charging, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G chipset.
In this article, we’ll go through everything you need to know about the Vivo iQOO 8 Pro, its full specifications, features, and price. Let’s get right into today’s article without taking much of our time.

On the front, the Vivo iQOO 8 Pro sports a 6.78 inches Samsung E5 LTPO AMOLED display that has a QHD+ resolution and a 1Hz to 120 Hz variable refresh rate. The display comes with many other premium features like HDR10+ support, Dolby Vision support, full DCI P3 color gamut coverage, and support for 10-bit colors. The display can go really bright as it has a peak brightness of 1,500 nits.
The screen has a tiny punch-hole cutout at the top center with very tiny bezels around the sides giving a close-to-perfect full view experience. As for protection, the screen gets the new Corning Gorilla Glass 6 which is resistant to scratches and easy damage.
According to the DisplayMate review, this display has an A+ score which means it is one of the best in the market. Also, the phone has a special display chip that will convert normal SDR content into high-quality HDR.
Beneath the display is the new Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic Max ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. It is the largest and also the fastest in-display fingerprint sensor available as of launch.
Design and Body
The design of the Vivo iQOO 8 Pro is another aspect of this phone that shows how far Vivo goes to make sure you have a truly premium experience.
Depending on the color you get, the phone will have a rear panel made of either Vegan Leather or Sandstone. If you get the Black Carbon Fiber finish, you’ll get the Vegan Leather back. If you get the White BMW version, you’ll get the Sandstone back.
Both of them are durable and do not collect fingerprint smudges so either way, you’ll have good material. There is an aluminum frame holding the rear and front glass together.
On the rear, you would find the camera system at the top right side with iQOO’s branding towards the bottom center. On the sides, you’ll get the usual power button, volume rockers, and SIM card slot.
Unfortunately, there is no IP rating certification on this phone. It would have been the perfect addition to make this a truly premium build.
Processor and Memory
On the inside, the Vivo iQOO 8 Pro runs on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G chipset that is an improved version of the vanilla Snapdragon 888 5G SoC.
The octa-core chipset comes with one Cortex-X1 core clocked at 2.99 GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.42 GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.80 GHz. Under extreme situations, it can reach a maximum clock speed of 3.0 GHz. The chip is built on a 5nm fabrication process.
The iQOO 8 Pro comes with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of fast UFS 3.1 internal storage. The configurations are 8GB RAM 256GB storage, 12GB RAM 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM 512GB storage. There is no slot available for storage expansion so pick a model that’ll be enough for you.
On the software front, the Vivo iQOO 8 Pro runs on Android 11 with the newly released Origin OS 1.0 skin on top.
The cameras are another department where iQOO also goes far to deliver a truly premium experience.
There is the triple rear camera setup that features a 50MP Sony IMX 766 with 23mm equivalent 7P freeform lens, a 48MP Sony IMX598 ultrawide camera with AutoFocus, and a 16 telephoto portrait camera. The ultrawide doubles as a macro camera thanks to the Auto Focus features.
Surprisingly, the main camera features the 5-axis gimbal stabilization just like on recent Vivo X-series flagships. With this, you’re going to get nice and smooth videos and it will reduce blur in photos, and even guarantee better handheld night mode photos.
On the front, there’s a 16MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture for taking selfies and video calls.
As for videos, the rear camera can record in up to 8K resolution at 30 fps while the selfie camera is capped at 1080p resolution which is not great.
Battery and Charging
The Vivo iQOO 8 Pro comes with a massive 4,500 mAh non-removable battery. With this, an average user is sure of having a great battery life.
As for charging, there’s support for a whooping 120W fast charging as well as 50W fast wireless charging. According to iQOO, they can take the phone to 100% in 18 minutes and 42 minutes respectively. Also, there’s support for 10W reverse wireless charging so you charge other smartphones and smart accessories.
Network and Connectivity
There’s support for 5G and 4G LTE networks on the Vivo iQOO 8 Pro. It is not sure if they’ll support the major global LTE and 5G network bands.
The phone comes with Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Radio, and GPS (A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS). There’s also a USB 2.0 type C port for charging and data transfer.
Vivo iQOO 8 Pro Price
The Vivo iQOO 8 Pro price starts at $770 (CNY 4,999), $848 (CNY 5,499), and $925 (CNY 5,999) for the 8GB 128GB, 12GB 256GB, and 12GB 512GB models respectively.
Vivo iQOO 8 Pro Review
The Vivo iQOO 8 Pro is a really great flagship smartphone for anyone to consider. It comes with high-end specs in almost every department and tops that off with superb optimizations that make you have superb camera output and a mind-blowing performance.
The only thing that may cause a problem is the issues with its global availability as it was only launched in China which means you’ll have to ship it to your country if you’re outside China.
And this will make you risk having network connection problems if the phone doesn’t support the recommended network bands of network providers in your country.
