Tecno and Samsung are working on an RGBW camera sensor and it was announced in a webinar Tecno Mobile held some hours back yesterday.

This new Samsung’s 64MP ISOCELL GWB sensor adds a white sub-pixel to the RGB color filter pattern. This RGBW technology leads to an improved light sensitivity so it is expected to perform noticable better in low light conditions. This sensor is expected to have glass components in it which leads to images with better clarity. Samsung is flaunting class-leading low light photos and boosted color accuracy from this new sensor. I hope it lives up to this hype.

This sensor is likely to be featured in a Tecno phone sometime in 2022 and it can be the Phantom 11 (or whatever they decide to name it).

Well, RGBW sensors are not new or that innovative as popular tech giants like Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, and Sony have all used them in the past. With Huawei’s implementation giving nice impressions.

Samsung has also been rumoured to be working on another 50MP RGBW sensor to be used in its next year’s flagship series, the Galaxy S22.
