Coolpad Cool 20 Pro launched with a 120 Hz display in China


Coolpad is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer known for making great affordable smartphones. Now, it has launched the Cool 20 Pro, an affordable 5G mid-range smartphone for the Chinese market. The Coolpad Cool 20 Pro comes with a nice specifications sheet and it has support for almost all 5G networks in China. Without further ado, let’s get into everything there is to know about the Cool 20 Pro.


Coolpad Cool 20 Pro Price and Availability

The Coolpad Cool 20 Pro is priced at CNY 1,799 (≈$282) for the base 6GB 128GB model and can go all the way up to CNY 2,200 (≈$346) for the 8GB 256GB model. The phone is available in four colors: Gold, White, Black, and Blue and can be purchased at major online retailers in China.

Upfront, the Coolpad Cool 20 Pro sports a 6.58-inch IPS LCD that has a FHD+ resolution with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The display covers the full DCI-P3 wide color gamut. At the top of the screen is an outdated waterdrop notch that houses the 8MP selfie camera for all your needs.


On the rear, the Cool 20 Pro has a triple camera setup that features a 50MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture alongside an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. As for video capabilities, the rear camera can go up to 4K 30 fps while the selfie camera is capped at 1080p 30 fps.


Under the hood, the Coolpad Cool 20 Pro draws its power from the MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G SoC coupled with the Mali G68 MC4 GPU. This chipset is paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage with no expansion support. It has a software feature that allows the RAM to be virtually increased by up to 5GB depending on your RAM model.


The Coolpad Cool 20 Pro is backed by a 4,500 mAh non-removable battery that has support for 33W fast charging via its USB-C port.
The phone has a nice set of stereo speakers with a dedicated second speaker at the top. It also supports Dirac Stereo Sound. It still retains the 3.5 mm headphone jack which is nice.


As for connectivity, it comes with Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi Direct, and Bluetooth 5.1. For navigation, it has support for GPS, AGPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo, and QZSS. Without forgetting, the Cool 20 Pro has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric security.
