OnePlus has been known for making great flagship killer smartphones at a very affordable price so you don’t have to break the bank to get flagship performance. The OnePlus 6 was released in May 2018 by OnePlus. Despite being released 2 years ago, the OnePlus 6 is still thriving well in 2020. Design and Body
The OnePlus 6 is a very good looking and attractive smartphone with great designs, it was crafted with precision and care from the ports even to the curvature of every button. OnePlus 6 is dust, splash and water-resistant. However, it doesn’t have any IP rating so water and dust damages are not covered under the warranty. This smartphone has a glass/aluminium build with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front, glass at the back and an aluminium frame. The OnePlus 6 still retains the 3.5 mm audio jack which most flagships tend to not have.
Coming to this department, the OnePlus 6 has a very beautiful display with a little notch at the top. But if you don’t like the notch, it can be hidden in the settings. The OnePlus 6 sports a 6.28 inches Optic AMOLED display with a FHD+ resolution of 1080×2280 pixels and 402 PPI density. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 so it’s scratch resistant. The phone has minimal bezels thanks to the 19:9 aspect ratio.
Processor and Memory
The processor is the most important part of a smartphone. The OnePlus 6 doesn’t fail in this department as it is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC which features 4 cores clocked at 2.8 GHz and another 4 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. The Adreno 630 is in charge of graphics and gaming here. The Snapdragon 845 chipset is built on 10nm fabrication process so it’s power efficient.
OnePlus 6 comes with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM coupled with 64GB/128GB/256GB UFS 2.1 storage. There is no SD card slot for expanding the storage.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 is still a good chipset in 2020 so the OnePlus 6 will perform well.
Coming to the camera, the OnePlus has a dual rear camera setup which features a 16MP main camera and a 20MP secondary camera. The secondary camera gives bokeh effects used in portrait shots. The dual rear cameras can record 4K UHD videos at 30/60 fps, 1080p videos at up to 240 fps and 720p videos at up to 480 fps.
At the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera which takes nice selfies and is good for video calls. The selfie camera can record 1080p videos at 30 fps.
Battery and Charging
Coming to battery department, OnePlus 6 comes with a 3,300 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. The battery is not very huge but the power-efficient processor and AMOLED display will optimize it well. The phone has support for fast charging up to 20W so you’ll spend less time charging. The phone charges via the USB type C port.
Network and Connectivity
The OnePlus 6 has support for 4G LTE network which gives you access to fast internet speeds when downloading and browsing. You can get speeds of up to 1024 Gbps thanks to the Gigabit LTE class it supports. It has support for almost all global 4G LTE bands so you won’t have network compatibility issues. The phone comes with Bluetooth 5.0 A2DP LE aptX HD, dual-band WiFi 5, WiFi Direct, GPS and NFC.
OnePlus 6 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Oxygen OS skin on top out of the box. The phone is upgradeable to Android 10 with Oxygen OS 10.3.1 skin on top. The phone will get Android 11 that just debuted so it will run on the latest Android version.
OnePlus 6 Review in 2020
The OnePlus 6 was a very good smartphone when it launched and trust me it’s still a very good smartphone now in 2020. The price of the OnePlus 6 starts at $250 as of September 2020. At $250, the specs of this phone are very good. The phone will get Android 11 update which is another good thing. Overall, OnePlus 6 is still worth it in 2020.
