After 16 months, Infinix Mobility decided to release the Infinix Zero 8 as the successor to the Infinix Zero 6. It seems Infinix decided to skip the Infinix Zero 7 and just jump on to the Zero 8. The Zero 8 got a massive upgrade in the specs sheet rather than just a small or incremental upgrade. The Zero 8 comes with a super fast and tested gaming chipset, the MediaTek Helio G90T which was in Umidigi S5 Pro, Realme 6 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. Infinix Zero 8 price in Nigeria, full specifications and features will be written in this post. I’ll also be doing a short review at the end of this post letting you know if it’s worth it. The display of this phone got a massive upgrade in almost everything. The Infinix Zero 8 sports a 6.85 IPS LCD display with a FHD+ resolution of 1080×2460 pixels and 392 PPI density. The display has very minimal bezels at the top and bottom. It would’ve passed a full-screen phone if not for the cutout at the top left to house the selfie camera. The display has a 90 Hz high refresh rate and 180 Hz touch sampling rate which makes scrolling smoother and gaming better, I really commend Infinix on this. You can go back to 60 Hz refresh rate if you want to save your battery on the Infinix Zero 8. However, colour accuracy on this screen is not so good and also it has no protection.

Design and Body

The design on this phone got a total overhaul. The phone has a plastic body which is not an upgrade because the Infinix Zero 6 has glass/aluminium body. At the phone rear, there is the kite-shaped camera bump which houses the quad-camera, LED flash with Infinix branding below it. At the sides, you have the volume rockers and the side-mounted fingerprint sensor which is also the power button. The rear also has a dual-tone colour finish, a lighter and a darker tone.

Processor and Memory

Looking at the processor, I can say the Infinix Zero 8 is the first true mid-range smartphone from Infinix but they call it a flagship which it’s not. The Infinix Zero 8 is powered by the gaming-centric MediaTek Helio G90T octa-core processor which has a maximum clock speed of 2.05 GHz. The Mali G76 MC4 is in charge of all gaming and graphics-related activities.
The phone comes with 8GB of RAM for good multitasking and 128GB built-in storage with a dedicated micro SD card for expanding. Infinix Zero 8 is the first Infinix smartphone to have 8GB of RAM.
The Infinix Zero 8 has a multidimensional liquid cooling system in which the 10-layer heat dissipation material cools the phone after heavy game playing.

Camera

The camera department was not forgotten as Infinix also did lots of works in improving the camera. It has a total of 6 cameras with 4 at the back and 2 at the front. The quad rear camera features a 64MP Sony IMX686 camera sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP low light video sensor and a 2MP bokeh camera. The rear cameras can record 4K UHD videos at 30 fps and 1080p videos at 30/60 fps with EIS(Electronic Image Stabilization).
The dual selfie camera features a 48MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera for a wider view. The front camera recording is 1080p capped out at 30 fps.

Battery and Charging

The battery department was not left out in this massive upgrade. The Infinix Zero 8 has a 4,500 mAh battery which is not removable. The battery promises up to 31 hours of talk time. The phone has 33W fast charging support via the 33W charger bundled in the box. The phone has a USB type C port for charging.

Network and Connectivity

The Infinix Zero 8 has support for 4G LTE network which gives you access to fast internet speeds when downloading and browsing. It has support for the following 4G bands: 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40, 41. It also comes with dual-band WiFi 5, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, WiFi hotspot and FM radio. The USB type C port supports OTG.

Software

Infinix Zero 8 runs on Android 10 with XOS 7.0 skin on top. As you know, the XOS is Ad ridden and you’d met ads almost everywhere including the notification panel.

Infinix Zero 8 Review

Looking at the specs sheet, It is already known that the Infinix Zero 8 is a good phone. However, there are some deal breakers you’ll have to deal with which includes: the lack of good colour accuracy on the display, the Ad filled XOS skin, the cheap plastic body, the camera doesn’t perform as it should and low chances of major software updates. If you can deal with the several deal-breakers than the Infinix Zero 8 is a good phone for you.
