Vivo is a Chinese technology company based in China that manufactures smartphones, smart accessories, laptops, and many other tech products. A few days back, Vivo announced the Vivo X27 which is targeted at those who are looking for a mid-range smartphone with some high-end premium features.
The Vivo X27 is packed with lots of amazing specs that make it one of the best mid-range smartphones available in the market right now. The phone also has some nice high-end premium features like an under-display fingerprint sensor, a pop-up selfie camera, a 48MP triple rear camera, the Snapdragon 710 chipset, and a huge memory. Display
The display of the Vivo X27 is quite unique when compared to other smartphones in the mid-range market as it is one of the few that offers a truly full-view display. The display has no interruptions with very little bezels around the sides thanks to the motorized pop-up mechanism that houses the selfie camera.
The display is a 6.39 inches Super AMOLED touchscreen with a FHD resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 400 pixels per inch density. The screen has no notch as I’ve already said and it has a whopping 91% screen-to-body ratio so you’re going to enjoy a truly full view display. This makes it perfect for gaming and watching movies and TV shows.
Beneath the display, you would find the optical in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. It is quite fast and has lots of fancy animations when you use it.
Design and Body
The design of the Vivo X27 is quite unique but it is not up to par with the more expensive higher mid-range to flagship smartphones. It has nice ergonomics and feels quite good on the hand. The phone comes in at 188 grams of weight with a thickness of 9mm, this is quite bulky but it is one major effect of having a motorized pop-up mechanism in a phone.
The rear is made of glossy plastic and it has the triple rear camera setup at the top left with Vivo’s branding at the bottom left. Surprisingly, the rear camera has no bump as it is fully fitted into the main body of the phone. Around the sides, you’d find the power button, volume rockers, a SIM card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top.
Processor and Memory
Under the hood, the Vivo X27 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor that is built on a 10mm FinFET process. The processor features two Kryo 360 Gold cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and six Kyro 360 Silver cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. The Snapdragon 710 SoC is paired with Adreno 616 GPU so you can have a good time while gaming and carrying out other graphics-intensive tasks. With this processor, you should be able to play any game on your phone smoothly with little to no lag so far the game graphics aren’t on extreme settings.
The Vivo X27 comes with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage with a micro SD card slot available for expanding the storage if need be. The memory and storage options are quite adequate for an average user.
Camera
Coming to the camera, the Vivo X27 does not disappoint as it is quite on par with fellow mid-range smartphones on the market. It has a triple rear camera setup and a pop-up selfie camera.
The triple rear camera features a 48MP quad-bayer wide camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 13MP 13mm ultrawide camera, and a 5MP depth camera with f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera can record videos at 4K up to 30 frames per second or at 1080p up to 60 frames per second. It has nice features like night mode, HDR, Pro mode, and panorama that all make the camera experience great.
The phone has a 16MP pop-up selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture and 1.0μm pixel size. It also has HDR and other nice features. As for videos, it can record in 1080p at 30 frames per second.
Battery and Charging
On the inside, the Vivo X27 is backed by a 4,000 mAh Li-Po battery that is non-removable. This is quite okay and should be able to see you through a day if you’re an average user.
As for charging, it has support for 18W fast charging. This is enough to charge your phone fully in about 1 hour and 20 minutes when it runs low. It charges via a USB Type C port at the bottom side of the phone.
Network and Connectivity
There is support for 4G LTE networks on the Vivo X27 and it comes with full support for the following LTE bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 34, 38, 39, 40, & 41. As for connectivity, it comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, and FM Radio.
Software
On the software front, the Vivo X27 runs on Android 9 Pie with Funtouch OS 9 skin on top straight out of the box.
