ZTE Sonata 2 Specs, Features and Review

ZTE has recently announced the new ZTE Sonata 2 which is the original ZTE Sonata 4G that was launched one year ago. The ZTE Sonata 2 comes with some improvements when compared to its predecessor which we’ll be discussing in this article. Without wasting much of our time, let’s get right into ZTE Sonata 2 specs and review.

ZTE Sonata 2 comes with a 4.0 inches WVGA TFT LCD display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels and 233 pixels per inch density. It has a 5:3 aspect ratio. The screen is protected by the Asahi Dragontail Glass so it is scratch-resistant and immune to easy damage.

Design and Body

The ZTE Sonata 2 comes in a plastic body that feels good in the hands. It has a thickness of 11.4 mm and weighs about 146 grams. It’s light but seems to be too thick. It comes in only one color which is Black. There’s a camera, a LED flash, and a speaker at the back. The volume rockers and charging port is at the side.

Coming to the camera, the Sonata 2 has a 5 megapixels camera at the rear for taking photos and videos. It can record 720p videos at 30 frames per second. It has a LED flash with it which helps in low light situations.
At the front, there is a 2 megapixels camera for taking selfies and video calls.

Processor and Memory

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 dual-core processor is the one powering the ZTE Sonata 2. It has a maximum clock speed of 1.2 GHz and is built on a 28nm fabrication process. It features the Adreno 302 GPU for gaming and graphics-related activities.
It comes with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It has a micro SD card slot for expanding the storage when the need arises.

Network and Connectivity

ZTE Sonata 2 comes with support for 4G LTE network which lets you experience fast internet speeds when downloading and surfing the web. It comes with Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, FM Radio, and GPS. It also has a micro USB port which helps with data transfer.


Battery and Charging

Coming to this department, the ZTE Sonata 2 comes with a 1,650 mAh battery which is pretty small. It promises up to 10 hours of talk time and about 320 hours of standby time. It has support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 1 and comes with a 10W charger which charges up to 30% in just 30 minutes.


The ZTE Sonata 2 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. It may later get an update to the next Android version in the future.
